Clarity Feature Updates: October 2026

Bitfocus has announced the October 2026 Feature Updates to be released October 1 between 9:00 and 10:00am. For a complete list of the Clarity Features updates, check out this article. Some of the items that we think are relevant to all users include:

  • New User Interface LIVE for all users - switch icon to old interface retired.
  • Current Living Situation Enrollment Workflow - the CLS is now part of the enrollment screen for projects in which a CLS is required at project start.
  • The "Reports" section - including the Report Library, Explore, and Data Analysis - will not be available in the new Clarity User Interface as of 10/1, and you will continue to be automatically re-directed to the current interface until it is complete in the new UI. However, Client reports will be available on October 1, 2026.
  • New Report in the Report Library — Staff Details Report [STFF-107]: lists staff members with agency access, including username, access role, email, phone number, and status — useful for staff administration and access reviews.

* These types of updates occasionally cause bugs throughout Clarity or issues with reports available from the Data Analysis tab. We actively monitor for errors after updates, but if you experience any issues, please contact us as soon as possible so we can work to resolve the issue.

** If you experience any issues - or something does not seem right, please reach out to the HMIS Help Desk at HMISSupport@end-homelessness.org.

Have you ever thought of a feature that you wished Clarity could do or had? Let us know! Our vendor accepts ideas and our community has had several ideas turned into active Clarity features!

2026 HMIS Privacy and Security Training: THANK YOU!

Thank you to everyone who participated in one of our four offerings of the annual HMIS Privacy and Security training. It was wonderful to see so many faces and participation in the chats!

If you did not attend, we will have the course ready-to-go in our on-demand training portal. Please be on the lookout for a community announcement coming soon with instructions on how to register.

Upcoming HUD Reports: LSA

The Longitudinal Systems Analysis (LSA) is on our radar! Please be on the lookout for emails with data correction requests or verifications as the HMIS teams works to clean HMIS data for this report.

The LSA uses system-wide HMIS data to show HUD a picture of our community: who is experiencing homelessness, what services they use, how they move through the homeless response system, and what outcomes they experience over time.

Helpful Data Quality Tips: Tips on Entering Notes

Question: Is there a community standard on entering notes in Clarity?

Answer: No! But we do have some best practice tips in this help desk article: Recording Notes in HMIS :

Question: My note includes some sensitive information. Can I set it to private?

Answer: Yes! All data entered in Clarity can be set to private. Especially information that details legal information, substance abuse, domestic violence, or medical conditions should be set to private. Look and click on the lock icon in the corner of the screen you are working on.
