Project Start Date
The Project Start Date is collected at the start of every project. This date is the day the client(s) started participating in the project. This is a required field. This date is used to measure length of time to Housing Move-In Date for housing projects.
Each individual client in a household will have their own "Project Start Date." If a client is added to a household after the original client's start date, the new client's start date should be the actual day they entered the project. If the client is a newborn baby, the date should reflect when the project started providing housing or services to the baby - any date after the date of birth.
Project Exit Date
The Project Exit Date is collected at the end of a client(s) participation with a project. This is a required field.
- For site-based or Entry/Exit shelters, this date represents the last day of continuous stay in the project.
- For Night-by-Night shelters, the exit date should be the day after the last recorded bed night.
- For non-residential projects, the exit date must represent the last day contact was made or service provided.
- For Street Outreach, clients must be exited when the outreach staff has been unable to locate the client for an extended period of time. In the case that a client enters another project type, finds housing, or engages with another outreach project, or passes away, the client should be exited on the day of last recorded contact from the Current Living Situation.
Housing Move-In Date
The Housing Move-In Date is the date a client or household moves into a permanent living situation and physically sleeps in that unit. This date is collected either on or after the project start date or on or before the project exit date.
In the case that a client leaves a housing situation, they should be exited from the enrollment with the move-in date. If the program continues to work with the client to find new housing, a new enrollment should be created and a new Housing Move-In Date would be entered when new housing is found. If the client moves directly from one unit into another unit, with no days of homelessness in between, it is not necessary to exit and re-enter them because their ‘Housing Move-In Date’ would still accurately reflect the day they entered permanent housing within that enrollment record.

Date of Status Determination (PATH)
To determine whether a client is eligible for the PATH program. Each project enrollment must have one Date of Status Determination. There can be no more than one PATH Status per enrollment. This date is collected either on or after the project start date or on or before the project exit date.
If a client exits the project without becoming enrolled, the Data of Status Determination still needs to be entered as "no" with the reason the client was not enrolled.
