How to: ESNKY Transitional Housing
The ESNKY Emergency Shelter requires all guests to have active Client Profiles and a Program Enrollment in Clarity HMIS. This article will walk through the following process:
- Search for a Guest or Add a New Guest Record
- Create a Program Enrollment
- Document Contacts and Notes in the Notes Tab
- Exiting a Guest from the Emergency Shelter
Search for a Guest or Add a New Guest Record
- Search for the guest.
- Click the edit icon to access the guest’s record if found in the search or click the “ADD CLIENT” button and complete the profile data if the guest is not found when doing a search.
- IMPORTANT! Update the Guest’s Profile
Check that the data on the guest’s profile is up to date. Enter Prior Address and Contact Information fields if missing. - Check for Services on Suspension (SOS)
If the guest has a current SOS (services on suspension), a “Public Alert” banner will display on the guest’s profile screen. Create a Program Enrollment
- Click on the PROGRAMS tab.
- Scroll down to the PROGRAMS: AVAILABLE section and click on the arrow next to ESNKY Emergency Shelter.
- Click the ENROLL button and complete the enrollment.
- Complete the enrollment and hit “SAVE & CLOSE.”
**Guests should be exited from the Emergency Shelter on the day they are enrolled into the Transitional Housing program. Use the exit destination “Transitional Housing for Homeless persons (including homeless youth)." There is no need to enter a Bednight Service for the Transitional Housing program.

Document Contacts and Notes in the Notes Tab
- Notes can be recorded in the NOTES tab found under the Guest's name.
- There are two categories available:
- Client Notes
- Public Alerts
**All notes must be set to PRIVATE.
Exiting a Guest from the Emergency Shelter
- Although the system will automatically exit any guest who is absent from the shelter for 15 consecutive days, there are instances where a guest should receive a manual exit:
- If the guest is suspended from services (after the suspension has been entered).
- If the guest has been interviewed at the time of exit and provides additional information on where they are going.
- If the guest is enrolled in the ESNKY Transitional Housing project.
- Manually exit a guest from shelter:
- From the guest’s record, click on the Client Level HISTORY tab.
- Scroll over the current ESNKY Emergency Shelter enrollment and click the edit icon.
- Click on the EXIT button on the left side of the Program Level navigation. button.
