Multi-Factor Authentication goes live 7/23

Our vendor, Bitfocus is upgrading Clarity’s login and security infrastructure to a Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) system. All users we will be required to set up MFA when they log into Clarity HMIS on July 23. This new system will replace the current Two-Factor Authentication (TFA) functionality.

Another change with this new MFA is users will log in with their email address. The use of usernames is anticipated to be retired.

This upgrade is part of Bitfocus' ongoing commitment to providing a secure, seamless, and highly reliable experience for all Clarity users. This new MFA system is a highly secure, SOC 2-compliant identity management platform.

For additional information, or support on or after 7/23, please see this newsletter or email HMISsupport@end-homelessness.org.

New User  Spotlight: Breadcrumbs

Users can easily see their location by reviewing their "breadcrumbs" at the top left of their screen.

As the user moves through the client record, the system leaves a breadcrumb showing their location. Users can click on a breadcrumb to move to that location or click on the action menu for More breadcrumbs.

Helpful Data Quality Tips: Duplicate Client Profiles

Help Us Keep Your Data Accurate! If you notice multiple profiles or enrollments for a client, please send the HMIS support team an email with the client unique identifiers. We have the ability to merge some records.

Merging client profiles is a great way to avoid duplicate client profiles and records and keep our system clean.  When profiles are merged, it's a permanent change that can't be undone. we need to be extra careful when end users request a client merge! To ensure a smooth merge process, please keep the following in mind:

  • Confirmation: Please confirm that the Full Name, DOB, and SSN match up perfectly. When in doubt, it’s always best to consult your agency lead and program staff.
  • Protecting Client Records: If our team spots a significant difference that suggests the records might belong to two different people, we will decline the merge to keep the data safe.
