Clarity HMIS Trainings
The following course are open to anyone to self-register STEH Clarity HMIS Training | Course catalog (talentlms.com) for or request access to content HMISsupport@end-homelessness.org.
Basic Clarity Trainings
This course is required prior to given access to the HMIS database. It is intended to teach the fundamental aspects of Clarity Human Services software. This Training Program contains the basic elements of the Clarity Human Services workflow, instructional videos, and hands-on activities to acclimate users to the system. This course includes required practice activities and take 3-6 hours to complete.
- Basic Clarity Training - For users who enter/view data directly into Clarity.
- Basic Clarity Training for VESTA Users - For users who enter directly into different HMIS software. Additional detail has been added to describe how the data transfer from VESTA (or other software) impacts how the users will interact with Clarity and put the rest of the training into that perspective.
- ESNKY Basic Clarity Training* - This course specifically meets the needs of the unique programs and services for the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky (ESNKY).
- YWCA Users Basic Clarity Training* - This course specifically meets the needs of the unique programs and services for the YWCA Comparable HMIS Database.
Clarity Specific Process Trainings
- HMIS Referrals Trainings* - This course walks through the referral process so that referrals from CAP and CE can be documented in Clarity. Although anyone can register for this course, there are different Clarity access roles that allow users the ability to view and manage data in Clarity appropriate approval is required for additional Clarity access.
- HMIS Housing Openings Training (Avaliablity*) - This course provides an overview of the Availability tab in Referrals so that agencies are able to document specific openings that the CE team can refer clients to. Although anyone can register for this course, there are different Clarity access roles that allow users the ability to view and manage data in Clarity appropriate approval is required for additional Clarity access.
- HMIS Introduction to Reports Training - This Report Training is designed for Clarity HMIS users as an introduction to Client Level Reports and the Report Library. It will walk through how to run, create, manage, and set up reports within Clarity. This training will also include an overview of the most used existing reports, including HUD, community, and Agency specific reports. This training briefly introduces the Explore (Looker) and Data Analysis Tabs as a more extensive training is in the works.
- HMIS Introduction to Looker Training - This course is for advanced Clarity users. It dives into the Explore Tab and introduces the embedded software, Looker, that users can use to view, manipulate, and understand data within the HMIS.

- HMIS Privacy and Security Training - This course is designed to provide an overview of the HMIS regulations and standards for data privacy and security and review its importance for all HMIS End Users.
STEH Coordinated Access/Exit Trainings
- HCV Referral Training (STEH Coordinated Exit)* - This course is designed to introduce the unique features of STEH Coordinated Exit and its processes in Clarity - primarily EHV and HCV Referrals.
- STEH Coordinated Access VI-SPDAT Training* - This course is designed to introduce the unique features of STEH Coordinated Access and its processes in Clarity. This training introduces and walks through the VI-SPDAT and VBNL, as well as how to document literal and chronic homelessness in Clarity. This course includes required practice activities and takes 1-2 hours to complete.
- STEH Coordinated Access for Housing Providers* - This course introduces the STEH Coordinated Access agency to Housing Providers so that they can access client enrollments, assessments, and files. After completing this training, user have read-only access to STEH Coordinated Access agency.
- STEH Coordinated Access YWCA VI-SPDAT Training* - This course is designed to introduce the unique features of STEH Coordinated Access and its processes in Clarity for the YWCA comparable database. This training introduces and walks through the VI-SPDAT and how to document referral matches in Clarity. This course includes required practice activities and takes 1-2 hours to complete.
- STEH Coordinated Access YWCA Hotline Training* - This course walks through the process of clients accessing the YWCA Hotline and being added to the community prioritization list.
- STEH Access Point Training* - This course was designed for agencies who act as access points in the community and perform the Diversion at the Front Door assessment.
Other CoC, Agency, or Program Specific Trainings
- Street Pop Outreach Referrals* - This course introduces Street Pop as a way for Outreach Workers to connect participants with outreach services in the community and create a record in Clarity for persons living in places not meant for human habitation.
- CoC HQS Training* - This course was created in collaboration with the STEH Compliance team for our community partners who either complete housing quality inspections or supervise those who do. This course is intended to introduce the Housing Quality Standards (HQS), its regulatory requirements, and the Cincinnati/Hamilton Co COC community's HQS policies.
- STEH RentConnect Training* - This course was created in collaboration with the STEH RentConnect team to train users on using Padmission to connect clients with more housing opportunities in our community.

*Please note that these courses CANNOT be accessed through the platform Course Catalog and can only be assigned to users after appropriate approvals.
